What You’re Supporting:

Since its founding by “two guys” Bill Langham and Paul Knudsvig in 2003, the tournament has raised over $100,000 to support scouting for boys and girls throughout the greater Hudson Valley region – most often providing funds for much needed equipment and infrastructure for local camp facilities and the Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks. In recent years your / our donations have funded staff cabins, a pair of (handicap-accessible) fishing docks, STEM “makers” equipment, snowshoes, and kayaks!

This year’s proceeds are earmarked for two further enhancements for the Read Scout Reservation:

  • A covered pavilion to further enhance the fishing dock that prior years’ tournament proceeds helped fund. The new pavilion will provide a place where scouts and leaders can sit down to prepare for or wait for their turn to fish, work on their merit badge, get out of the sun or rain, etc.
  • A kiln for the camp’s handicrafts / pottery program, where scouts’ clay creations can be fired.

These items will benefit thousands of scouts throughout the Greater Hudson Valley , many of whom are not so fortunate! And what’s the summer camp experience without doing some fishing and coming home with a piece of unidentifiable, handmade pottery to give to your parents! 😀

Friends of Rye Scouting, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation recognized by the IRS and NY State – as such, the majority of your registration fee will be a tax-deductible donation.

We hope you’ll join us and “wager generously” – great fun for a great cause!
